How do I prepare for a corporate portrait session?
Well, like everything in life… it depends.
It depends on:

- The values you want to convey
- The audience you are targeting
- What you sell or offer
- And your style, of course.
That’s why, before each session, we talk to you. We get to know each other, we listen to you, and together we define what you want to project.
I’m not going to tell you to wear a suit and tie if your business is selling flowers…
(Unless that’s precisely part of your visual identity).
Real case: Corporate photoshoot for artist and craftswoman Jennifer Barreto
One of our recent sessions was with Jennifer, founder of Tasaigo.
She is deeply connected to tradition, design and creativity, and works primarily with fabrics and threads, elements that are almost an extension of herself.
In our first meeting, we defined the symbolic and practical importance of these materials in their daily lives. We decided that fabric and thread would be key elements in the images we were going to create.
In a second meeting, I created a mood board with visual references and concepts, exploring how to integrate the props coherently with their identity. We defined scenes, colors, and textures.

What if the session isn’t on a professional set?
If your session will take place in a real-world setting, such as your workplace, workshop, or even your home, there are some important factors to consider.
- 1. The order and cleanliness of the space
I’ll ask you in advance to clean and organize the area where we’ll be taking the photos. A tidy scene is key to creating clean images, where the focus is on what really matters: you.
A messy pile of papers in the shape of the Leaning Tower of Pisa in the background can be more distracting than you might think.
The idea is not for your space to look “perfect”, but coherent and visually harmonious.
- 2. Preliminary review of the environment
Don’t worry, on the day of the session I’ll take care of analyzing the environment before we begin.
If there are any elements that could negatively affect the image, such as loose cables, trash cans, misplaced objects, etc., we’ll move or rearrange them as needed.
My goal is to help you make your space look authentic, but also visually balanced and professional.
Real example: Session in the offices of a business consultancy
Here I share an example of a session we made at the offices of the Nuñez Mata management company.
The space was quite small, and as is typical in these kinds of environments, the work table was cluttered with folders and office supplies. Of course, all those items are necessary in daily life, but they didn’t contribute visually to the image. On the contrary, they created visual clutter that distracted from the true subject of the photo: the person being photographed.
To fix this, we decided to move everything unnecessary out of the frame and visually clean up the scene. With a few small adjustments, we made the space feel larger, tidier, and more professional… without losing its authenticity.

What if I’m not sure how to prepare?
Don’t worry, it’s totally normal!
I completely understand that your image is important to you, and that achieving the look you want on the day of the shoot can be stressful. Many people experience this.

If you’d like, I can even arrange everything so they’re present on the day of the session, at the agreed-upon location, making the experience as easy as possible for you, without you having to lift a finger or worry about anything else.
